Bruce H. Lipton, PhD is an internationally recognized leader in bridging science and spirit. Stem cell biologist, bestselling author of The Biology of Belief and recipient of the 2009 Goi Peace Award, he has been a guest speaker on hundreds of TV and radio shows, as well as keynote presenter for national and international conferences.
Early Work with Stem CellsDr. Lipton began his scientific career as a cell biologist. He received his Ph.D. Degree from the University of Virginia at Charlottesville before joining the Department of Anatomy at the University of Wisconsin’s School of Medicine in 1973.
Dr. Lipton’s research on muscular dystrophy, studies employing cloned human stem cells, focused on the molecular mechanisms controlling cell behavior. An experimental tissue transplantation technique developed by Dr. Lipton and colleague Dr. Ed Schultz (published in the journal Science) was subsequently employed as a novel form of human genetic engineering.
Breakthroughs in Cellular Biology and Quantum Physics
In 1982, Dr. Lipton began examining the principles of quantum physics and how they apply to his understanding of the cell’s information processing systems. He produced breakthrough studies on the cell membrane, which revealed that this outer layer of the cell was an organic homologue of a computer chip—the cell’s equivalent of a brain.
His research at Stanford University’s School of Medicine, between 1987 and 1992, revealed that the environment, which operated via the cell membrane, controlled the behavior and physiology of the cell, turning genes on and off.

Dr. Samarpan Anand Buchalter: a Doctor of Chiropractic, a yoga teacher trained in the Indian Himalayan Mountains, and an indigenous healthcare advocate who has worked in the Amazon Rainforest intermittently for almost a decade. After years of human rights advocacy, he has the great honor of being nominated as a healthcare ambassador for the isolated Yanomami People of the Upper Rio Negro region of Brazil.
Dr. Buchalter is developing sustainable healthcare initiatives aimed at addressing the effects of colonization on isolated indigenous cultures such as malnutrition, musculoskeletal pain, and other ailments now plaguing remote villages. His work shines light on the unprecedented atrocities that have been perpetuated against the Amazon and its inhabitants while serving as a cultural bridge between worlds, to be a messenger for those whose voices usually never leave the forest.
The Yanomami Healthcare Sovereignty Project is the culmination of his own healing journey after breaking his back twice and suffering a near death experience from a traumatic brain injury. The depths of disability he experienced forced him onto a path of radical immersion into holistic healing modalities, taking him to every corner of the globe in search of a deeper understanding of what it truly means to heal.
Who are the Yanomami Indigenous People?
The Yanomami People are the largest relatively isolated tribe in all of South America, totaling over 40,000 individuals dispersed throughout the northern Amazon Rainforest of Brazil and the southern part of Venezuela. Their culture is anthropologically one of most unique on Earth, maintaining a primal essence that many indigenous peoples have lost due to the devastation of colonialization.
Their ancient practices have withstood the test of time: still hunting by bow and arrow, continuing to speak their original language, the upholding of various ancient traditional festivities and ceremonies, and the powerful role that shamanism still plays in their day-to-day life, which incorporates the use of a unique plant medicine known as Parika (a hallucinogenic powder blown up the nose of their healers) that connects them to the spirit realm and is considered one of the most powerful substances on the planet. There are still factions of the Yanomami that remain completely uncontacted, living frozen in time, existing in the same way they have for the past several thousand years.
The Health Crises
The Yanomami People have suffered greatly in ways that have made them the center of some of the most tragic controversies to ever occur in the Amazon. Interactions with the outside world were infrequent until 1940, when an illegal road was constructed through their territory. Since then, the Yanomami have been plagued with ailments such as Measles, Malaria, Flu, mercury poisoning from illegal gold mining, anemias, and rampant malnutrition. It is estimated that over 80% of their population is malnourished presently with the problem continuing to escalate because of the effects of colonization.
The healthcare currently offered to them is coordinated by SESAI, a federal program created to address the medical treatment of indigenous people throughout Brazil. Unfortunately, due to corruption and an ongoing genocidal intention of the Federal Government, governmental healthcare programs help just enough to keep them disempowered and in a constant state of emergency while never offering any viable sustainable solutions. Since the discovery of gold on Yanomami lands, in the late 1980’s, the ongoing Gold Rush continues to decimate their communities with drugs, alcohol, kidnapping, violence, and many other issues that plague their territory. This has led to the continued exasperation of many health issues and is one of the greatest threats they face as a people.

Ethereal. Enlightening. Medicine for the soul. Aliza Hava (“aLEEza Hah-vuh”) interlaces the elements; earth and sky, fire and water. Her transcendent voice recreates the mystical tone of Stevie Nicks, the raw soul of Janis Joplin, and the energizing strength of Florence Welch. With her award-winning infusion of folk, rock, pop, and R&B, Aliza heals the tiny forgotten bits of ourselves while rekindling our memories, setting our feet on the path back home and calling us to rise into our best versions of ourselves.
Seeking solace from a difficult childhood, Hava turned to music at an early age. Self-taught on a twenty-dollar used guitar, she found inspiration in an old songbook she discovered in her parent’s basement, 'Great Songs of the 60s.' Fire-lit, Hava immersed herself in the history of the 60s and early 70s. The music, culture, and activism helped her discover her calling for healing and ignited a drive to write songs that could change the world.
While in university studying Music Therapy, Aliza developed a strong inclination towards student activism and discovered a natural gift for concert production and community organizing. She began producing charity concerts featuring local bands for campus organizations like Students for a Free Tibet and NYPIRG. She led drum circles in the infamous “Tripping Fields” behind the college where some of the greatest names in music once played, including the Grateful Dead, Frank Zappa, and Stevie Ray Vaughan. With her college located just thirty miles from the town of Woodstock, Hava soaked up the culture and spirit that continued to permeate the region many decades later. She collaborated with local musicians, pulled all-nighters with her guitar around campfires, and earned herself the nickname, FireMusicFaerie.
After college, Aliza began performing at and co-producing concerts at the United Nations headquarters in NYC. She earned a position as Chair of the UN International Day of Peace NGO Music Committee and went on to produce live concerts on six continents in partnership with over forty civic society, governmental, and environmental organizations. While living part-time in the Middle East, Hava represented UN-related peacebuilding initiatives and worked with Israeli and Palestinian musicians promoting peace and dialogue through music. She went on to produce the internationally live-streamed concert, Harmony in the Holy Land. This extraordinary event united Muslim, Christian, and Jewish musicians in a universal, musical prayer for peace from the heart of Jerusalem. Watching Palestinians and Israelis meet as strangers and part ways as friends, Aliza felt the reaffirmation of her calling to build bridges through the healing power of music.
Throughout her journeys, Aliza has shared bills with world-class artists such as Dr. John, Michael Franti, Zac Brown Band, Rising Appalachia, and more. She has performed in the U.S., Canada, India, Australia, Jordan, Israel/Palestine, and South Korea and considers her music and work a form of sacred activism.
The original recording of Hava’s song RISE can be heard on Occupy this Album: 99 Songs for the 99% alongside artists such as Ani DiFranco, Jackson Browne, and Warren Haynes. Her music is on the soundtrack of Sharon Stone’s award-winning documentary, Femme: Women Healing the World, which also features performances by Annie Lennox, Yoko Ono, and Rickie Lee Jones. She is a recipient of the Human Spirit Award presented by the international organization Talent for Humanity, and her story is featured in their book along with seven other internationally acclaimed artist/activists.
Her latest singles, Radiant Light, Behind Your Eyes, and most recent album, Natural State, explore themes spanning introspection, personal transformation, lost love, and standing in one’s true power. Featuring songs adorned with a rich tapestry of vocal harmonies, ethereal textures, and rootsy folk-rock, Aliza brings to life a glimmering mosaic of the moments that have shaped her.
With an inherent message of peace and universal love, her songs embody the power of music to uplift the mind, body, and soul while staying true to the ongoing practice of reclaiming our natural state.
