Meet Pippa of Tree-Nation ! In 2015 Pippa worked as a strategic project and program manager in the UK, working heavily in the corporate industry for many years until she decided to sell all her belongings and leave to travel the world.
In her travels she saw the first hand destruction of the rainforests and natural habitats caused by industry and disregard. Looking for a way to use her corporate skills for good, Pippa joined Tree-Nation to help make positive change in the world and is now responsible for Tree-Nations Corporate Partnerships.
In this role, Pippa works with corporations, individuals and organizations that want to support agro re-forestation in de-forested areas, re-introducing native species; nutritional, fast growing, and medicinal trees to regenerate the eco-systems in these areas.
On whole, the organization Tree-Nation plants trees world-wide through affiliated projects and currently has 14 active projects present on four continents, each with its specific goal and objective. Some of the main objectives include CO2 compensation, fighting desertification, providing economic opportunities, increasing food security, and water retention. Besides taking in CO2 and cleaning polluted air, trees also are great water retainers that help to revitalize land so that it is livable and lush again.
Trees can stabilize the water networks on a global scale by storing water in the ground which generates clouds, and leads to rainfall in various areas. Tree-Nation employs people from local communities plant trees for the specific project that Tree-Nation is involved with. GUILLERMO SILVEIRA, composer.
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina (April 23rd, 1959) Silveira is one of the most commissioned, prolific and fascinating composers of his generation.
His works are performed worldwide. La Nación (Buenos Aires, 1980) writes he is “a young composer that has ideas and knows how to express them with coherence, proficiency, and good sense.” The Washington Post describes his work as “good theater, and even better music,” “colorful entertainment,” “dramatic and effective,” and notes his innovative leadership by saying his music is “evidence of where Latin American music is going.” Others have described his pieces as “post-modern sound books,” and “complex lyrical landscapes.”
Silveira’s music reflects his interest in the musical traditions of the Americas and the world, and its ethnic folk traditions. He explores the development of ancient and traditional musical forms as historical process in all continents, considering in each culture the concepts of time, synesthesia, deconstructivism, revisionism, dissemination, peace and environment.
Dr. Silveria writes in all musical genres based on multi-cultural studies. His work ranges from solo instruments to symphony orchestra, from cantata to opera and musical, from primitive music instruments and concrete sounds to computer electronic music. Silveira has done many inter-art collaborations with leading writers, visual artists, and musicians. He has written music for many films. Peace Lights
“Peace Lights” was born from another piece called “Drapes”, which was originally shown at the NYC Opening Ceremonies for the United Nations International Year of Light and Light-base Technologies. The following month, Drapes was shown at the New York Peace Coalition Awards Dinner where the first idea forPeace Lights was conceived. The original light images were used to re-master a cleaner version with titles and the words “Peace Lights” displayed in 55 languages. A shorter 3 minute version (with just the title in English) was also produced along with some still images. Peace Lights is becoming an increasingly recognized international symbol of peace and has been adopted by the peace organizations of 16 countries as their International Symbols for Peace & Non-violence. The United Nations International Year of Light has also endorsed Peace Lights, and it has been featured around the world in 6 of 7 continents.
